Türkiye admissions calendar 2027: YÖS, Türkiye Scholarships, February and September intakes

The most common mistake when applying to Türkiye is starting too late. Some exam registrations close in January, scholarships close in February, and the best discounted places fill up in spring. Here are the key 2027 dates in one place.

TR-YÖS 2027 dates (ÖSYM)

TR-YÖS is the exam for international applicants run by ÖSYM, Türkiye's assessment centre. State universities and some strong private universities (for example medical faculties) ask for it. Two sessions are announced for 2027:

Session	Applications	Late applications	Exam	Results (planned)
TR-YÖS/1	14 January – 3 February 2027	9–11 February	11 April 2027	6 May 2027
TR-YÖS/2	7 July – 2 August 2027	6–10 August	10 October 2027	4 November 2027

Result dates are planned and may change. Check ÖSYM's official guide for fees and exam centres.

Important: most private universities on our site admit bachelor's students with a school certificate, no YÖS. YÖS is mainly needed for state universities, competitive fields such as medicine and dentistry, and extra scholarships.

Türkiye Scholarships (government scholarship)

The Turkish government's full scholarship: tuition, a monthly stipend, accommodation, health insurance and a year of Turkish. In 2026 applications ran from 10 January to 20 February. Official 2027 dates are not out yet, but the window usually opens at the same time. More: our Türkiye Scholarships 2027 guide.

Private universities: two intakes

February (spring) intake. Some universities take master's, PhD and selected bachelor's students in February. Applications usually run November–January, and classes start mid-February. More: about the February intake.

September (autumn) intake — the main one. Private universities usually open applications in January–February and keep them open until August. But the biggest discounts and places in popular fields (medicine, dentistry, psychology, computer engineering) often go in spring.

Month-by-month plan (for September 2027)

Month	What to do
November–December 2026	Decide on field and budget, compare programmes, check your passport
January 2027	Register for YÖS (if needed), apply for Türkiye Scholarships, plan a language certificate
February–March	Apply to private universities, receive conditional offers
April–May	Secure a discounted place and pay the deposit, YÖS results
June–July	School certificate and translations, final acceptance letter
August	Visa (if needed), accommodation, tickets
September	Registration, preparatory year or classes, residence permit

When should you start?

Short answer: now. If you are in your final school year, November–December is the most comfortable time to choose — no rush, and you benefit from applying early. Compare programmes by price, city and language in our search.
