How to get a Turkish diploma recognised in Azerbaijan: TKTA, documents and steps (2026)

What you need to have a bachelor's or master's diploma from Türkiye recognised in Azerbaijan: online application to TKTA, document list, apostille, fee and key conditions.

The question parents ask most when choosing Türkiye: "Will the diploma be valid in Azerbaijan?" Short answer: yes, if the university is officially accredited in Türkiye and the documents are prepared correctly. Recognition of foreign diplomas in Azerbaijan is handled by the Education Quality Assurance Agency (TKTA).

The key condition: the university must be officially recognised

The most important condition is that the university is recognised and accredited by the competent authority of its own country. In Türkiye that is YÖK (the Council of Higher Education). All universities on our site are official state or foundation (private) universities listed by YÖK. For Northern Cyprus universities the situation may differ — check with our consultant before applying.

How to apply

  • Applications are accepted online only — no e-mail or paper submissions.
  • State fee: 250 AZN (duplicate: 20 AZN).
  • Documents must be colour scans in PDF, each no larger than 5 MB.

Documents for a bachelor's diploma

  1. Diploma — with an apostille
  2. Diploma supplement (transcript) — with an apostille
  3. Notarised translation into Azerbaijani (not required for documents in Russian, English or Turkish)
  4. ID card, both sides
  5. Passport first page and pages with border-crossing stamps
  6. Military ID or military registration document (for men)
  7. Consent form
  8. Document showing the year of admission and the mode of study
  9. Transfer certificate, if you transferred

A master's diploma needs similar documents; if your bachelor's diploma is also foreign, it must be recognised first.

What is an apostille and where do you get it?

An apostille is an international stamp certifying that a document is official. For a Turkish diploma the apostille is issued in Türkiye (usually through the governorate — valilik or kaymakamlık). So the easiest route is to apostille your diploma and transcript right after graduation, before leaving Türkiye.

What to keep in mind when you enrol

  • Choose full-time study. Part-time or distance modes can cause recognition problems.
  • Keep your passport stamps. Border stamps prove you were in Türkiye during your studies.
  • Keep every document: acceptance letter, student certificate (öğrenci belgesi), transcripts.
  • If you transfer, get an official certificate from your previous university.

Our advice

When choosing a university, look not only at the price but also at its official status. The programmes on our site are at YÖK-recognised universities. To find out which documents to keep from day one, talk to our consultant free of charge.
